Assessment of Partial Discharges in the Air by Application of Corona Camera

This paper reports the results of analysis measurements involving partial discharges (PD) occurring in air using a corona camera (UV camera). The were carried out laboratory conditions and applied two electrode systems: needle–needle needle–plate, order to obtain various electric field distributions. PDs, including variety alternatives, portable UV camera, taking into account impact gain parameter its distance from PD sources. As result, some important regularities characteristics identified that could significantly affect ability assess PDs by application measurements. In addition, obtained can be employed for non-invasive diagnostic performed on working power equipment may useful further work standardizing result interpretation method camera.
